MacRumors tells us about 5 new features and improvements that come with AirPods Pro (2nd generation) support for Bluetooth LE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Audio.
Improvements by supporting Bluetooth LE Audio
AirPods Pro (2nd generation) support for Bluetooth LE Audio is expected to improve sound quality, battery life, simultaneous transmission, pairing, and switching between connected devices, MacRumors said.
Bluetooth LE Audio supports the new codec LC3 (Low Complexity Communication Codec), which is expected to improve sound quality even at lower bit rates than conventional codecs.
Another advantage of the LC3 codec is its low power consumption. Therefore, it is expected that the driving time will be longer even if the battery capacity does not change.
With Bluetooth LE Audio compatible devices, it is possible to play the audio output of iPhone and Mac at the same time.
For example, the right earpiece of AirPods Pro (2nd generation) can play iPhone audio, and the left earpiece can play Mac audio.
Simultaneous listening of the same sound source
We plan to connect three or more Bluetooth LE Audio compatible devices to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac so that everyone can listen to the same sound source at the same time.
No need to switch connected devices
If AirPods Pro (2nd generation) supports Bluetooth LE Audio, users will not need to switch the connected device each time.
Rumor has it that it will be announced soon
AirPods Pro (2nd generation) is expected to be announced at an event that will be held from 2:00 am on September 8th, Japan time at the earliest.
