Once you open the shortcut from the Settings or Digital Wellbeing app, you’ll see the new card style in Android 13.
The “On Now” button in the first card records the current state of Bedtime Mode. Activating it shows a cute animation and options for “Temporarily Off” and “Deactivate for 30 minutes”.
The second card is a “bedtime routine”, the schedule UI is the same as before, and can be turned on or off on recharge (for manual control).
Below is a “Custom” section, but the options for “Do Not Disturb at Bedtime” and “Exit the Mode on Next Alarm” are also the same as before.
The new feature is the Bedtime Screen Options, which includes the following options:
● Keep Screen Dark: Disable Always-on Display
● Dim the wallpaper
● and ‘Dark theme’
For Android smartphone users who don’t want to be affected by “light pollution” at night, the function of dimming the wallpaper in sleep mode is quite practical. In addition, combined with the Nature swept series of Pixel 6a, it can give the device a more unique look and feel experience.
Finally, Google pushed version 1.1.463639936.beta (409068) to the test channel yesterday, and enabled the new wallpaper dimming options mentioned in this article.
9to5Google first previewed the option in May, and Android 13’s redesigned Bedtime Mode appears to be live in mid-July. Sadly, it hasn’t rolled out to Pixel smartphones running Android 12.
