TechRadar explains why, considering various rumors, the iPhone 15 series is closer to the iPhone image that users expect than the iPhone 14 series.
Is the realization of the expected new mechanism carried over to the iPhone 15 series?
TechRadar says that the new mechanism that was expected to be realized in the iPhone 14 series is likely to be realized in the iPhone 15 series, considering various rumors.
A17 manufactured in 3nm process
The first thing the media mentions is a system-on-chip (SoC) manufactured with a 3nm process that achieves both improved performance and reduced power consumption.
It is rumored that the A16 installed in the iPhone14 Pro series will be manufactured using the same TSMC 5nm process “N5P” as the A15.
TSMC will start manufacturing semiconductors using the 3nm process within the year, and the A17 for the iPhone15 Pro series is expected to be manufactured using the same process.
Adoption of USB-C terminal
Apple is expected to change the external connection terminal from Lightning to USB-C in the iPhone 15 series.
In the iPhone 14 series, only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max adopt i-type punch holes, and it is rumored that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will remain notch.
DSCC CEO Ross Young reported that all models in the iPhone 15 series will adopt i-type punch holes.
